Another Winner! Another Giveaway!

I am happy to announce the winner of last week's favorite hero contest and giveaway. It's Stephanie, who voted for Peeta. Congratulations, Stephanie! You won an ARC of Edenbrooke and a Pride & Prejudice DVD. Please send me your snail mail address at donaldson(dot)julianne(at)gmail.com.

Now, there is nothing to be sad about if you haven't won yet! We still have five more giveaways!

My favorite review so far said of Edenbrooke: "It was like Downton Abbey, Georgette Heyer, and Jane Austen all had a baby and that baby is a literary gift to the romance world."   (You can read the full review for yourself here.)

So for this week's contest, just tell us if you're a Downton Abbey fan, and who your favorite character is. If you haven't been introduced to Downton Abbey yet, don't worry! You will not be disqualified. But get thee to Netflix! And watch it! Hurry!!!!

The lucky winner will receive some hilarious paper dolls of Downton Abbey which you can cut out and play with, (see the sample below)

as well as an Advanced Reading Copy of Edenbrooke. (You know what that looks like by now, right?)

The contest will be open starting now until next Monday, February 27, at midnight. As always, you will get extra points for telling me you follow my blog (and actually following it) and for sharing the news with your friends on Facebook or Twitter. (You have to tell me you've done this, because I can't track people down. Just mention it in the comment.) And new this week, thanks to Jenny Faires: a fourth point is possible if you ask your local library to order Edenbrooke.

Isn't this exciting? Now let's talk Downton Abbey! Did you love the Christmas special? Wasn't the last scene beautiful? Does anyone feel sorry for Thomas?

  2. I feel sorry for everyone taken IN by Thomas! I HATE HIM! Also, I really want those paper dolls...so...my favorite character is Mr. Bates. I love that man. He is so strong and sweet and virtuous and kind and kinda cute in his own way. I also follow your blog and shared this. There. Now pick my number, go!

    1. Mr. Bates is a gem, it is true. Have you seen him on North and South? And on Larkrise to Candleford? He's a great actor.

  3. I follow, I FB'd, I tweeted. And now I will confess my love of Downton Abbey. Really? I have to pick ONE favorite character? That's too hard. Mr. Bates, Mr Carter, Lady Sybil, and Violet. (really, Violet probably edges out the others by a hair..) I'm only starting season 2, so I haven't sen the Christmas special yet, and I super dislike Thomas. He's a rat. And Erin already owns your book. She just wants to win to win. I say it's about time she came in 2nd for a change.....;)

p.s. I chuckle that there is a dead paper Mr. Pamuk

    1. I love Violet! Her quips are so droll, and I love how she meddles. And, yes, Mr. Pamuk made me laugh too.

  4. I mean Mr Carson. His real name is Carter and when they say it, it always sounds like "Mr. Carter" to me! And my other favorite character would be the clothes.....

    1. I have to see this show.
Where can I find it? Is it PBS or BBC?
I'll have to just do a search. It looks so good.

Thanks for the motivation to find it.

    2. So glad you stopped by, Sandy! You can watch the first season of Downton on Netflix and the second season is, I think, still online at Masterpiece Theatre. Or you can order both seasons from Amazon and watch them over and over. :)

  7. Okay, I must go watch this Downtown Abbey. I can't stop hearing about it! I'm a new follower and your book sounds pretty awesome. How great is that review?! :)

  8. You already know of my love of all things Downton. I love the Dowager Countess Violet Grantham the best. I posted a youtube video on my Facebook page (I don't know if you saw it) called Downton Abbey: Top 10 Maggie Moments. She has the best lines!

As far as feeling sorry for Thomas...uh, nope. But I did like that we got to see a little bit more depth of character for him. But I must admit I rather enjoyed seeing the scoundrel get a little well-deserved comeuppance in a recent episode!

Am I not following you? I swore I was. I'll join again, just in case. I still am pining away for that ARC (or ERC as I like to call it).

  9. I definitely need to watch those top 10 Maggie Moments. I love her character! I also love Daisy, and I'm surprised nobody has voted for her! I loved the scene between her and William's father. It was so touching and sweet. I like to see how she's growing up and learning to stand up for herself. And her accent is probably my favorite on the show.

  10. Hello,

I'm writing in hopes that you might consider letting me review "Edenbrooke" for my blog.
I'd love to host a giveaway as well, but I
don't want to get to far ahead of myself.

  11. I LOVE Violet Crawley, especially her awesome one liners in episode 7 season two ("don't be so middle class"). She honestly cracks me up. I do love Mary. Her character evolved for me and I just adore her now!

I have been following you for a bit and I really enjoy your blog :)

  12. Jules... mind if I call you Jules?
I just reviewed Edenbrooke and I wanted you to know I really liked it. I'm also cruising your website and finding out that you and I are so similar in our obsessions with England, its history, and its literature. (Seriously, I want to get my PhD in British history one day. I don't know if there's even a degree for that!)

I am now your newest and dare I say biggest fan.

Oh, and my favorite character from Downton? Oh geez. Where do I start? I have to agree with previous commenters: I adore Violet Crawley. She's one of the best characters. Her imperfections are what make her so perfect. I just can't help but sympathize with so many people on the show, it's pure genius.

P.S. That paperdoll set is hilarious!!! Mr. Pamuk included. *bahahahaha!*

  13. Welcome, Amy! So glad to have you! I'm glad you liked Edenbrooke! I also dream of getting a PhD in British history...or, rather, British literature...of the historical kind. And, yes, anyone can call me Jules. :)
